Hello Kirk, thanks for the useful caveat. I wonder if it's not better to start with audiobooks on many authors of period fiction. It seems somehow more personal, more immediate, to have the book delivered by voice, and that's often what seems to prevent people I know from appreciating period fiction.

Hi there CAGEYM, I see you have Aubrey and Maturin books. Where do you fall on the recommendation spectrum with these books? I'm not so sure I want to start the series, since I hear such passionate advocacy coupled with tepid non-recommendations from the non-sailors.

Please to advise, yes?

Cheers

Hi and thanks for adding me to your interesting libraries list! I think of that as a compliment of the highest order.

I see we share quite a lot of books, 45 of your current catalog of 748. And some of my favorites, too...Freckles was a childhood love; The Sparrow is an all-time winner; Uncle Mame was such a treasure, to discover more about "Patrick Dennis" as a real person (well, a real persona anyway) instead of a character.

Cheers and see you around the Thing
Richard
