How about making it 72,009 by adding Barracuda.
Barracuda is a fast-paced thriller which will be enjoyed by readers who appreciate the aquatic action of Jaws, the mob intrigue of The Godfather, and the police procedural sense of The Onion Field.

My question is: Have you read all the books you list? Has anyone ever read 72000 books in his lifetime? I suppose they did not keep track if they did. I have read every book I have listed, and I doubt I will reach 5000, since I am not,oddly enough, getting younger.

Another Mystery;How can a Public-Free Account have let you enter in 72000 books?
I started out as a paying member, but I had a friend that started a library thing account as a public free account, and when they got to two hundred books entered, it wouldn't let them enter any more without being a paying member. Are you the reason for the rule change? One bad apple ruins the whole bunch.

My name is Chris Tusa, and I'm a writer from New Orleans/Baton Rouge (I actually teach in the English Department at LSU). Anyway, I noticed your profile, and I was wondering if you'd be willing to read a novel I just completed. The manuscript is currently being circulated among some of the larger NY publishers, and my agent wants to get opinions from a few readers. When her prayers go unanswered, Hailey puts her faith in Moses Watkins, a failed preacher and ex-con. Fascinated by Moses’ lopsided view of religion, Hailey, and her brother Cyrus, begin spending time down at an abandoned bank that Moses plans to convert into a drive-through church. Gradually, though, Moses’ twisted religious beliefs become increasingly more violent, and Hailey and Cyrus soon find themselves trapped in a world of danger and fear from which there may be no escape.

That WAS funny. I clicked over to see what other "nerd" would have this book on genetics and saw 72 THOUSAND books. I started thinking, 7200, wow - then realized wait a minute. How can THAT BE??? Is this a millionaire's home? And if it is, why are they entering books on LibraryThing instead of jetting to the Hamptons for the summer or Taipei - it IS July! Ha, ha!

Yes, thanks, Tim. I was looking around the house trying to imagine. . . (now wouldn't it be interesting to survey home owners on LT and calculate the average books per square feet (andyray has 1.88 books per square foot now...com'n andy, a few more! make it an even 2!).

Thanks Tim for the explanation. I simply HAD TO SEE how a private person could have 65,000 books in their house and was about to travel to the source, forgetting all personal and business plans to see such.I have an average sized house (1,600 square feet and will have to deck the garage with bookcases as I approach 3,000 inside.

Just for people who don't know, this library is an error of sorts. They were trying to enter their collection into LibraryThing for Libraries—a program we have for libraries—and misunderstood. It will be removed soon.
